PVC Water Stop Jointing Procedure
Proper jointing of PVC water stoppers is essential to ensure a continuous waterproof barrier across concrete constructions and expansion joints. All joints should be heat welded using the recommended equipment and techniques to achieve maximum strength and leak-proof performance.
Step 1: Prepare the Water Stop
Ensure both PVC Water Stop ends are clean, dry, and free from dust or oil. Trim the ends square using a sharp knife so they fit together perfectly.
Step 2: Heat the Welding Plate
Preheat the PVC welding plate to the recommended temperature. Make sure the plate is clean before use.
Step 3: Heat the Water Stop Ends
Place both cut ends against the heated welding plate and apply gentle pressure until the PVC softens evenly. Avoid overheating the material.
Step 4: Join the Ends
Remove the welding plate and immediately press the softened ends together. Hold them firmly in alignment until the joint cools and forms a strong, continuous weld.
Step 5: Inspect the Weld
After cooling, check that the joint is straight, fully fused, and free from gaps or cracks. A properly welded joint ensures a continuous watertight seal and long-lasting performance.
